LONDONDERRY, NEW HAMPSHIRE

INDEPENDENT BY NATURE.

A Granite State company built in a town whose history is tied to migration, hard work, frugality, practical thinking, and independence.

THE COMPANY

A Londonderry Business With a National Reach

TC Cache is the shortened storefront name of Trading Card Cache LLC, an online-only company based in Londonderry, New Hampshire.

A cache is a collection kept safe until it is discovered. That idea fits the hobby: finding a card, sealed product, building set, toy, or collectible that feels worth keeping.

The business is new. The values behind the brand: independence, practicality, discovery, and making the most of what you have are deeply connected to the place it calls home.

BEFORE THE COLONIAL NAMES

A Much Older New Hampshire Story

Long before English charters, the land now called New Hampshire was home to Abenaki peoples for thousands of years. In the Merrimack Valley, the Pennacook were part of that larger Abenaki world. The state’s history did not begin with the names “North Virginia,” “New Hampshire,” or “Nutfield.”

FROM NORTH VIRGINIA TO THE NINTH STATE

New Hampshire Took a Long Road to Independence

The name and government changed repeatedly before New Hampshire became one of the original thirteen states.

EARLY 1600s

“North Virginia”

The New Hampshire state almanac notes that early English colonizers first referred to the region as North Virginia before the name New Hampshire took hold.

1629

Named New Hampshire

Captain John Mason named the territory for Hampshire, England, although he never personally visited the colony that carried the name.

1641–1679

Under Massachusetts Jurisdiction

New Hampshire’s English settlements came under Massachusetts jurisdiction. The political connection remained complicated even after New Hampshire became a separate royal province, and the colonies later shared governors.

1740–1741

A Government of Its Own

After years of border and political disputes, New Hampshire received a governor separate from Massachusetts. Benning Wentworth became the first royal governor of the newly separated administration.

JAN. 5, 1776

An Early Independent Constitution

Months before the Declaration of Independence, New Hampshire created what the state describes as the nation’s first free constitution.

JUNE 21, 1788

The Ninth State

One of the original thirteen colonies, New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the United States Constitution.

NUTFIELD TO LONDONDERRY

A Community Founded 57 Years Before the Declaration

In 1719, sixteen Scots-Irish families established a settlement in the Merrimack Valley. Their ancestors had moved from the Scottish Lowlands to Ulster, and many of these settlers came to New England from Londonderry in northern Ireland.

They called the settlement Nutfield for the chestnut, walnut, butternut, hickory, and other nut trees they found. In 1722, 54 years before the Declaration of Independence, the township received its charter and the name Londonderry.

Nutfield was a settlement within colonial New Hampshire, not a separate colony. It became a center of Scots-Irish migration into northern New England.

THE NUTFIELD LEGACY

Hard Work, Flax, Linen, Potatoes and a Practical Reputation

Londonderry grew into a major Scots-Irish center whose agricultural and cultural influence spread across New Hampshire.

FLAX

Fine Londonderry Linen

Settlers cultivated flax and developed a linen industry for which Londonderry became well known during the eighteenth century.

POTATOES

A Crop They Helped Popularize

The Scots-Irish helped make potato cultivation widespread in New Hampshire. Local “first potato” claims exist, although historians note that the claim is disputed.

CHARACTER

Practical and Frugal

Historical accounts describe the Scots-Irish community as hardworking, efficient, frugal, practical, and independent, traits later associated with the Yankee character.

GRANITE

Built to Last

Careful sourcing, honest presentation, and secure packaging.

TRAIL

Made for Discovery

A shop that can grow across cards, toys, building blocks, and hobbies.

Not an Antique Brand. A Modern Business With Real Roots.

HONESTLY MODERN

A New Company With a Real Sense of Place

TC Cache does not claim to have existed since 1719. The history gives the modern company a genuine connection to Londonderry and explains the values behind its identity.

THE BRAND PHILOSOPHY

Independence Translated Into Direct Shopping

“Independent by Nature” reflects New Hampshire’s long path toward self-government. “Fee Free or Die” connects that attitude to buying direct, reducing unnecessary marketplace costs, and returning more value to collectors.
